Each part of the set is coated with micro-encapsulated dye (CB coating on the back of the top sheet) and a reactive clay layer (CF coating on the front of the bottom sheet). Pressure from a pen or printer ruptures the capsules, transferring the image to the next sheet. This creates up to 3 simultaneous copies without messy carbon paper.
